Church Covenant
Having been led by the Holy Spirit to repent and put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and to surrender ourselves to Him, having been baptized upon our confession of faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, trusting in His grace, solemnly and willfully renew our covenant with one another (John 1:11-12; Matt. 28:19-20):
We will motivate one another to acts of love and good works, not giving up meeting together nor omitting the duty of prayer both for ourselves and for others (Heb 10:24-25; 1Cor 11:23-26; James 5:16).
We will share the ministry according to the mission and vision of the church to develop people to become faithful followers of Jesus Christ so that they can grow into His image (Eph 4:11).
We will submit to the leadership of the pastor and elders who God has entrusted to serve and care for this body by teaching the Word of Christ to us and modeling the character of Christ before us (Heb 13:17; 1Pet 5:2-4; 1John 4:19).
We will submit to one another while not passing judgment on one another, not lording over anyone, not provoking one another, not envying one another, not hating one another, not slandering one another, and not harboring grudges against one another (Eph 5:21; Mat 7:1; 1Pet 5:3; Gal 5:26; Luke 6:27-29; James 4:11; Lev 19:18).
We will honor one another, live in harmony with one another, build one another up, accept one another, care for one another, serve one another, be kind to one another, forgive one another, comfort one another, encourage one another, confess our sins to one another, abound in love for one another because Christ has loved us in each of these ways that we ought to do the same for others (Rom 12:10, 16; 1Thes 3:12; 5:11; 2Thes 3:16; James 5:16; John 13:34).
We will be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior by living holy lives, defending the faith and promoting the Gospel message to win souls to Christ with the fervent desire to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances (Mat 13:31; 28:19-20; James 5:7-8).
We will pray and make every effort to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ to preserve the unity of the body through the bond of peace (Eph 4:3).
We will exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, and reject every opportunity to speak or entertain gossip or slander. Instead, we will faithfully warn, rebuke, and admonish one another to build each other up in the faith (1Pet 5:2; 2Tim 2:15; 1Cor 5:1-2; Eph 4:29; Heb. 3:12-14);
We will seek divine aid to enable us to walk faithfully and watchfully in the world, to be honest in our dealings, exemplary in our speech and actions, upright in our engagements, and denying ungodliness and every worldly lust (Eph 5:15-21; 1Pet 2:11-12; 1John 2:15-17).
We will rejoice with those who rejoice and endeavor with affectionate and compassionate love to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows (Psalm 34:18; Mat 5:4; Gal 6:2).
We will strive together to uphold and sustain our church’s activities by faithfully attending our corporate worship, treasuring our weekly opportunity to sing, pray, receive the whole counsel of God’s Word, attending to biblical preaching, observing the ordinances, and the exercise of church discipline (Phil. 1:27; 1Cor. 15:58).
We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of our ministry, to the care of our members, and to the spread of the Gospel locally and to all nations (2Cor 9:7; 1Cor 16:2).
